With school just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about your next computer if you need a new one.
For starters, are you troubleshooting more than you should and less time doing what you want to do, a Mac should be your next computer. Yes, we’re biased… for all the good reasons.
Additionally, with the upcoming release of Snow Leopard for Mac and Windows 7 for PC, this is definitely a good time to think about your next purchase. I want this post to focus on commentator’s opinions and help you choose your next computer. Yes, as always, we welcome PCers (we do know you have your reasons, too).
Before I turn over to the commentators, I want to share a good humored Upgrade Chart for Windows 7 and Snow Leopard (images from TechCrunch):

Windows Version:
Upgrade to XP (years ago) and it was a biggest improvement. Upgrade to Vista (a couple of years ago) and it was embarrassment & terrible.
Upgrade to Window 7 — that remains to be seen.
Mac Version:
Upgrade from Panther to Tiger, WOW.
Upgrade from Tiger to Leopard, AMAZING.
Upgrade from Leopard to Snow, I guarantee you that we’ll say CHAMP!!
Television commercial during your favorite show: Lady walks up to a row of laptops. Some are black, some grey. Some are big and heavy. Some are small and light. Even some are big and light. One look at the price tag: “Oooo”, says the lady. She moves on.
She settles on one she likes. She talks to a store employee and asks “This runs Windows XP. What do I need to do to upgrade it to Windows 7?”. Store employee says “Um, yeah, there is this chart I’ll need to get, but let me tell you there’s only one DVD for Mac OS X and it costs only $10″. The lady says, “That’s the Mac, right? I must be a dummy but I want this Windows laptop because it’s cheaper….”
She buys it and walks into the parking lot and she finds her car. It’s a Hyundai. She gets in and it doesn’t start. A handsome tall guy by the name “Chad” comes up and introduces himself. He offers to help jump start the …Hyundai. He connects the cables to the battery and sits in the front seat of the Hyundai. Chad immediately leaps out of the car and disconnects the cables. The lady yells, “What are you doing? The car’s not running?”. Chad replies without looking back, “There’s a Windows laptop in the front seat….”

For hapless Windows XP users desiring to upgrade to Windows 7, first step is to save all user files and settings on an USB drive. Second step is to reformat hard disk drive. Third step is to install Windows 7 from scratch. Fourth step is to reinstall all compatible drivers and applications. Final step is to restore all user files and settings. There is no “in-place upgrade” path from XP to 7 compared to such paths from Vista to 7. Most experts suggest getting a new computer instead and it would be a GOOD time to get a Macintosh at this point.
A few hours later, Bill’s Towing shows up. Bill asks the lady with the Hyundai, “How may I help you?” She asks looking at his badge, “Is your real name Bill? You look Indian to me”. “Yeah, my real name is Bharadwaj. Please enter your product key–I mean, warranty number here then we’ll get started,” he says with an heavy Indian accent. After she enters it, Bill informs her that her warranty is expired. “Looks like your cheap PC, I mean, car needs a new battery. I can install a new one for you right here and now.” “Really? Good,” says the lady. “For $150.” Exclaims the lady, “$150?! For a new battery?”. Bill replies with a smile, “Yeah, if you had a Lexus like my friend, Chad, you’d not need to replace your battery for five years. Lexus makes the longest-lasting battery. Worth the price, if you ask me. But I’m glad you have this piece of shit or else I’d be outta business.”
@tayler: You’re in Hollywood. Think about submitting your script if you have any! :)
Even if Bill Gates needed help — but like Tayler and I discussed, the exception to the rule is that Bill Gates must have a Mac laptop with him before I will lend a helping hand. (smile)

@Chad- Thanks.
I got a problem. When i updated Safari (to the verison 4) and downloaded Safari Adblock.
When I open Safari, popup comes up
“CTLoader toolbar has not been tested on this verion, toolbar hundle will not be loaded”.
It only happens if I quit the Safari and reopen it. It wont shows the popup if I just close the Safari instead of quit it.
I know this comment is under wrong post. Maybe we need a troubleshoot section on this page. Just a 2 cents.

Kyle, I’m getting the same message but not just with Safari, I’m getting it with pretty much everything else! I’m not sure what it means but it doesn’t seem to be doing any damage to anything so I’m not concerned…..yet…..I agree with you though, maybe another thread is needed to address this issue? Also I’m having real problems emptying the trash!!! lol, sounds strange I know but it seems to take forever to delete simple text files??? pre-installation of SL I never seemed to have this problem!!! Come Apple what have you done here??? sort it out!!!
