The iPad Preorder Weekend

Well, how was the weekend for you all? Did you enjoy all the tidbits that came out regarding the iPad? For me, it was fun to learn more details about iBooks, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers.

My hopes of having force feedback in my iPad games were dashed when Apple updated the iPad details to show that the “Mute” switch has been changed into a screen rotation lock. Bummer, but that screen rotation lock will come in very handy when I lie down with iBooks. :)

For those concerned about having their iPad battery replaced, Apple has posted a page explaining how this process will work. You will able to pay $105.95 to have a replacement iPad shipped to you (after you ship your dead-battery iPad back to Apple first). Makes me wonder if the iPad is sealed shut, and can’t even be opened like an iPhone.

Fortune is posting that iPad orders over the weekend total about 152,000. Their source is quoted as saying Apple could easily sell 1 million iPads two weeks after it starts shipping. Do you agree? Or do you think otherwise?

We have come up with a fun poll below about your activities last weekend. Please participate! :)

Also, we are working on possibly having a live webcast of an iPad being unpacked and shown off on the evening of April 3. Interested? Let us know!

I did it at the crack of dawn for the lowest priced iPad and will figure how to shoehorn a webby cam in it. I am also waiting for a 2nd generation iPad with a webcam as well. Both iPads will be WI-FI only for now. 3G may be troublesome with videophoning and it may be wise to wait for 4G to make it worthwhile.

You said “….have a replacement iPad shipped to you…..” The link you provided did not say that. Send it back to Apple and they will replace the battery for a fee and send your iPad back to you, not a new one nor a replacement.

I preordered it! I know that it has some missing features, but other features are too good to ignore! :)

Tousi – if you read the section of the Apple Support page that I linked to titled “Will the data on my iPad be preserved?” you will see that Apple says, “You will receive a replacement iPad that will not contain any of your personal data.”

Am I missing something here?

Here is a good article at http://www.macworld.com/article/147090/2010/03/ipad_paradox.html

They have a good point – IPAD is about the quality of experience, not the quantity of features. :)

Plato, I hope we can find a way to connect a cam to the iPad. A couple of ideas off the top of my head:

Accessory developers utilize the SDK to allow bluetooth to connect to things like the BT-1 Bluetooth Webcam, or come up with a 30-pin dock connector webcam.

Hope that the iPad Camera Connection Kit’s USB to 30pin dongle is a true USB port, letting us connect webcams to it.

If Apple won’t allow this, we’ll have to just wait for the Dev-Team to jailbreak the iPad, then hope someone comes up with a hack to connect a webcam (either USB or Bluetooth). :)

Genius: What is wrong with an old-fashioned shoehorn and an old Kodak box camera? We will see what they will come out on the melting marketplace soon.

I was interesting about iPad what cool system but somewhat that I wasn’t happy without webcam plus no USB. I was very disappoint Steve Job wasn’t even thinking planning for selling market that I am pretty sure that people won’t buy it because it is overprice seem not worth it. But sound like study for awhile to seeing how things work as well for testing then after 6 month later will have new upgrade and more memory from 16GB forward to 32GB to become lower price also will be better speed plus webcam.
If you they have no patience go buy that their choice because Ibook pretty cool very simple way to improvement reading skill. I deciding to wait next generation before waste money ?
