I wonder about voice recognition software for Mac OS X (MacSpeech) - has anyone tried it? Some deaf people told me they tried Dragon at work and the results weren't good (Dragon is made by Nuance who also produces MacSpeech).

I've tried using this app at a Republican endorsement convention (approximately 150 people in a large room). Unfortunately, it didn't work well because there was too much background noise and the text doesn't appear until the speaker stopped recording. I would imagine that this app would work best with a plugged in microphone in a quieter environment. I wish to see the text appear as its being recorded instead of waiting a few seconds after stopping the recording.

I have tested it with several hearing friends. Their voiced sentences (two sentences at max) are shown accurately on my app. But, I have not tested three or more sentences. I'll keep you posted.
