iChat is my main means of daily communication and I’m always using my mouse to bring iChat to the front every time I get a new message. Some of you may already know this super shortcut key to bring iChat to the front, it’s worth mentioning here for iChat is also someone’s daily communication tool (note: it is a feature introduced in leopard):
SHIFT+COMMAND+F1
The command is the key with the Apple logo on it. You can change the shortcut key combinations by going into iChat’s preferences.
It is an option in iChat preferences. I guess that option got introduced as of 10.5.1 or 10.5.2. If you don’t see the option in your iChat’s preferences, you’ll need to do a Software Update to see it.
The option is for what key combination you want. They should add the option of what is brought to the front when I use the application switcher. That’s what I said.
Chad,
yesterday I posted a message in this comment forum. I checked it few minutes ago and it’s gone. What did I do? This is kind of offended me.
Hi Jeff,
You didn’t do anything wrong nor did I do anything to your comment. All comments are moderated and as of now, they’re posted.
Happy reading!
Ok, no problem.
Thanks Chad.

Ugh. I wonder why this isn’t an option in iChat preferences. Give users a little more control; if we use the application switcher, what is brought to the front? It’s a bit awkward pressing these keys. If I try to do it with one hand, it’s a stretch. Otherwise, it’s a two-hand key press. Oh well, a bit ago I switched to Adium but realized iChat is indispensable. iChat Theater! Screen Sharing! And tried video iChatting three-way. Awesome experience!
