Introduction of a mac geek.

Me.

Another blogger that will be posting every other day or so maybe longer between depending on the amount of tips, tricks, or news for us deaf mac users.

My name is Clyde, I currently work as a system support specialist for a large school, with approximately 400+ macs.

No I do not have an iPhone, but I am tempted to get an iPod touch with mail addon..
I currently use a powermac g5 dual 2.5, running to dual screens a 17 inch and a 22 inch Dell monitors (hey – they were cheap and work as well!! *grin*) and yes.. I admit, I have more than I say I do.. I do have laptops, I do have a newton, I do have a boat load of apple stuff..

I love Fry’s, Microcenter – despise Compusa – glad they’re all closing up shop.

Go ahead post in comments what you’re looking for from me @ DMO, more tips ? tricks ? or discussion of things/webpages etc.

Clyde, welcome from the original Mac Geek Plato from 1984. I have tons and tons of Macintosh goodies. Yes, the iPod Touch is terrific with its software upgrade which is now included with new Touches at no additional charge, I got my MacBook Air with 64GB SSD yesterday and it is ideal anywhere in my house. That makes six Macintoshes on my AirPort Extreme network now. When my family come visiting for the holidays, three more Macintoshes pop up on the same network. I do have the same G5 as yours and it is used for games and video editing as well as a photo library. My email computer is a dual 1.0GHz G4 tower. My DVD player is a Mac mini hooked to my 32″ HDTV set which also has a videophone hooked to it. I still have my 1974 homebrew personal computer in storage as well as a 1976 Poly 88 one. Have fun with your future purchases.

I live closer to Apple Store, I’m happy than being glad rather I used to live closer to CompUSA and it went out for short. How fortunately! Welcome anyway.

Tayler, yes, there is Fry’s in Austin, TX I have been there.

Hey, ever use an offline blogging program called MarsEdit? I’m curious about it. Is it good to use with blogging under WordPress?

I’m still using a Mac G4 Mirror-Double Door system, 1.25 GHz with 1.75 GB of RAMs. Cool and good but a bit slow machine.

Welcome Clyde to deafmac blog.

I too work for the school as system/network administrator. This month project
for me now is switching the windows to mac (Yay! Bye bye Windows!) I’m putting
all of the mini macs (1.83ghz
model
) and put them on the table’s
ceiling mounts to
hold. So there will be more space big time on the tables!
Anyway, you said you work for the school also. But I’m curious what software
are you using like Winclone,

SuperDuper
, or other useful sys admin’s utilities? What is your recommended
to use for your work?
Look forward to hear from you soon. Have a nice evening.
‘Jeff
