As a further proof that our voice about the iPhone plans are penetrating in the hearing community, TUAW.com has mentioned deafmac.org in their recent post about our $27.99 deal being stripped away.
I can only hope that our wish for a data-only plan is an understandable request because we have no use for a voice plan and wasting our money on something we never use. It is only about fairness in paying for what we only need.
Thank you for all the support from the hearing community because they have voiced their understanding and expressed that they hope we get the fair pricing plans for everybody, not just us.
@Nick: Thanks.
Another iPhone focused site has picked up on the story.
Thanks to USA-L News for the tip.

Recently, there is a new article that says AT&T will have iPhone plan for deaf soon. See web site at http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/iphone/att-iphone-data-plan-for-the-deaf-coming-soon-328672.php.

Why wait for 3G? This is like waiting for racial integration in the 21st century! Customers are to be treated with RESPECT! The time is NOW. We shall not tolerate stalling.
What a joke!
Look at http://www.sprintrelaystore.com (no restriction) — why can’t ATT do same thing without this silly TAP program?
hola
Another one, this time from iPhone Matters with this link here:

Is it possible to add JavaScript code to return carriages after a slash in the link display? Otherwise it distorts the page layout..
Ahem… So uh the stuff from Macworld was pretty cool…

I was disappointed that there was no mention of new pricing plans and/or the addition of the native iChat application for the iPhone at Macworld. I wonder if anyone has read or heard of any plans to adjust the pricing plans? It seems things are at a standstill on that front.
Geez. As a new Mac convert (typing this on my Mac Pro and planning to buy a Mac Book Pro as soon as my paycheck comes!) I really, really want the iPhone. I’m sick of t-mobile, and blackberry sucks- their AIM is very slow. However, i’m not going to shell out 50 bucks a month for a voice plan I will never use. Sprint offers the text only plan for $20 to existing customers who want to keep their plan. Maybe I should get the cheapest plan ($10) and then add on the text only? I don’t know if Sprint would allow that but it’s an idea.
Apple, it seems, REALLY does not want to talk about it! I just got a message booted off an Apple discussion board less than 10 minutes!

Isn’t it interesting that Apple will create new data plans for corporate customers but they will not create a new data (only) plan for people with hearing loss?
Curiouser and curiouser said Alice …

I am thinking it is time to give up on Apple, sell my iPhone, and convert my ATT account to a BlackBerry with a Data-Only plan….
Sorry, comments are closed.

I thought you would like that. I am the one that submitted the story to TUAW. There was a post about AT&T not allowing hearing to drop Data plan anymore. Seems to be related.
