I am pleased to announce that we have added a new member to the deafmac.org team! Ryan Layton will be our resident DeafMac Genius. Ryan will be posting on Deafmac.org regarding a variety of topics, including troubleshooting tips, reviews, tutorials, and helping readers use their Macs to the max. Ryan’s Mac experience is wide and varied, including working as the only Apple Certified Technician for one of the largest school districts in the nation, administrating college labs with Macs, doing stints of desktop publishing, photo editing, and video work with Macs, and still does private Mac consulting. He is a lifelong Apple user, whose first sight of an Apple ][ running Pong in elementary school was enough to get him hooked for life. Ryan’s dear wife loves him enough to allow him to keep his Apple //gs, Macintosh Portable, Mac SE/30, Intel Mac Mini, MacBook, and the usual attendant ‘treasures’, as long as they stay in his office.
Stay tuned for the first of the DeafMac Genius’ articles . . . coming tomorrow!
Welcome onboard, Ryan! Looking forward to your articles.

Ryan, welcome to our public deaf mac web site!
I have a question for you.
Ünix command line prompt without desktop question – MUST BE ON NETWORK.
When I turn on the computer and I instantly press “Command + S” then it take me to the unix command line. Is there other way to go there directly instead of go to desktop? Where is the boot loader configuration file? So I don’t need to use the keyboard’s shortcuts every time to get there.
The main reason I want to go there every time when the computer is turn on, then I can do the LAMP’s configurations there instead of go to desktop which take bit more time.
That should about it for now. Look forward to hear from you soon. ☺
Welcome aboard ! Wow you looks bigger in picture than years ago I met you at Macworld in S.F.
