iPhone $27.99 deal put on hold

As predicted, the AT&T Corporate Marketing Department “slapped” the Colorado AT&T store and asked them to cease their $27.99 offering until further notice.

AT&T Customer Care got a lot of phone calls from the “hearing” people complaining that they felt it was unfair that we are getting “special treatments” hence the order made by the AT&T Marketing Team.

I will know more details later this afternoon and I deeply and regretfully apologize for any inconveniences this has caused everybody.

Check back later today.

Those “hearing” people don’t realize that we can’t use the phone part of the iphone!!! And they are getting alot of good deals on cheap phones and family services while Deaf people don’t get those.

My aunt’s family is able to get 4 phones for very cheap prices, and got family rates, while within my family, we have two blackberry (paid at full price) and paying 30 dollars EACH for service.

Hearing people, wake up and see that Deaf people are already getting unfair services.

And one of you were grandfathered into the special pricing? Eh?

It would be interesting if T-Mobile gets the same complaint from “hearing” persons on its deaf plans. Something is fishy when one company offers a plan where another can not due to ‘unfairness’ treatment. We need to inform FCC about this crazy mess on us deafies being treated as unfair to hearing persons.

Oh well!

Yes, it is disturbing that AT&T is offering Voice-Only Plans for the iPhone but not Data-Only Plan. This is allowing hearing people to have lower costs for the iPhone and forcing us to pay a premium for a service that are futile.

@Goofy: Whether we were grandfathered or not, I am committed to ensure that we get fair treatments, which means paying for the service we only need. I’m still fighting this battle and I hope to see positive results as an outcome.

Hang in there everybody.

Then we should complain that the hearing people are given special advantages that are unavailable to us. That is not fair for us.

AT&T Corporate slapping the Ft Collins store tells me they are going to release the data-only plan! I hope I’m right. At the least, AT&T now knows there exists a demand for it.

@Tayler: Aren’t you feeling optimistic? :)

I expected it will be happed that lead Erik’s $27.99 web site shut down. Better to let DeafMac.org (Chad Tayter) or offiical ATT to inform us that we will be able to sign up for under 30 dollars for data plan. All I hope is match T-Mobile and Sprint’s Data price.

I am not sure if it is a fact. Are you aware that Apple is charging ATT 12 to 18 dollars per month so how ATT can make money from 27.99 data plan? We shold not only blame ATT, we should also blame Apple.

I disagree with drew about blame to Apple because it is new technology. Also if AT&T is not accept then AT&T would not getting iPhone for business, you know almost every companies communication service wanted iPhone for deal but AT&T won contract with Apple.
