Email Push for iPhone, Yahoo!

When my iPhone was activated, I was really disappointed to learn that AT&T doesn’t offer their email service with an “email push” similar to Sidekick (tmail) or Wyndtell. An email push is when someone sends you an email to your pager, you will receive it immediately.

iPhone offers you to add any email provider such as Yahoo!, Gmail, .Mac, Exchange (work), etc… They can be checked every 15, 30 or 60 minutes. While that is nice, I still need an email push.

Upon talking to Marvin Miller, who is also a man who has a heart shaped like an apple, he mentioned that Yahoo! provides email push. I went to Yahoo!’s webpage and learned that their technology doesn’t support iPhones; however, when I added a new email account on my iPhone, Yahoo! was on the top of the list.

I went ahead and created my new Yahoo! account, added it to my iPhone and gave it a spin.

Email push worked! I tested it like 20 times already and it worked every time. The downside to owning a Yahoo! email account is that advertisements will get appended to your sent messages (unless they allow you to remove it for a fee).

hat tip to marvin miller

Why not set up Gmail account? It’s free and ad-less.

@daveynin: I would use gmail if they have email push like Yahoo!. In the meantime, it’s Yahoo! for me because I want to be able to receive messages immediately.
