The Launch of deafmac.org!

Ramy: Hello, I’m Ramy Bustamante III and today I’m thrilled to announce the launch of deafmac.org. The purpose behind deafmac.org is to post any Mac-related announcements, stories, events, discussions about the latest products such as iPhone, Apple TV, software, hardware, tips and tricks. The website will contain information of interest to be shared with you through this new community-based website.

Right now, I am using iSight to create this vlog and everything I do here is made on a Mac.

I’ve been a long-time Mac user and in the past I have tried to establish this website; however, due to lack of financial support I was unable to continue. Until recently, I decided to give it another try and implement deafmac.org and the success would not have been possible without the generous support from Hands On Video Relay Service (HOVRS).

I am pleased to introduce you to Chad W. Taylor (Mac Business Unit Manager at HOVRS).

Chad: Wow, this is amazing to witness the launch of deafmac.org today! HOVRS is also very excited to provide you with the support you need. This community-website has been desired for a long time and I believe this is going to be essential.

Ramy: Thanks. Did you know that HOVRS is the only company that really cares about the Mac community and with that said, I am a loyal HOVRS Mac customer!

I’d like for you to spread the word about deafmac.org with your friends, family, neighbor, fellow Mac users and even PC users!

(someone is talking in the background to Ramy)

Oh, Steve Jobs would like for Chad and I to attend his party so we better get going…

(Steve Jobs is talking to Ramy)

Steve would like me to remind you: Think Different!

Chad and Ramy: See you later!

Many thanks to Wayne Betts, Jr. for helping out with the video clip.

Greetings from St. Louis! I am delighted to know thee is deafmac.org and that Chad is providing workshops on it. I love MAC and I enjoy using it for the last 15 years. I still am confused with some technical issues. I try to find it.

I am happy that I can be able to contact you or others for tips and ideas. This is why I find MAC very reliable and useful.

I hope Chad can come to St. Louis during SHOW ME DEAF FILM FESTIVAL on September 24 – 30 2007. This will be a good opportunity to sway anyone to MAC side. It will be fun and challenging.

Ramy – I am glad you did NOT give up! Keep persisting forward and now you are successful! Congrats!

Chad – what is your plan for St. Louis? I am looking forward. If you want to provide workshop during the festival. This is part of planning.

Enjoy MAC!

I joined the MAC world last year and still L O V E it.

Funny story to tell you, a friend went on skiing trip to Colorado in March ’06 and shared the news that I joined the MAC world. Some stranger told my friend “I don’t know who Phil is but he is getting smarter!!”

Right now I only have Intel Duo iMAC.

Welcome everybody! I can’t wait to see how this website will blossom. I have been a Mac user since 2000.

I, unfortunately, have to run Windows using Paralells; however, the instance name is “XPuke.”

As some of you may already know, I came up with this “poem”:

Install Windows and pray.
Install Mac and play.

Hi DeafMac people!

I wish to express my heartfelt congratulations on the new official website of the Deaf Mac group and special thanks to Hands On VRS for sponsoring it. It is absolutely blessing for the Apple users.

As I have been a Mac man since 1984 and had been a Apple ][ owner for four years before the Mac was born, I have owned 4 Mac computers. Currently, I am a owner of handy, Intel-based Mac Book Pro laptop. I am looking forward to becoming a new iPhone owner shortly after Apple will releases it earlier this summer.

Happy Mac!

About time! It was funny ‘cuz I was chatting with Tayler last night about when would DeafMac.org start something.. And PAH! Here it is!

I’m looking forward to this new website!

I started using Macs back in the late 80′s in high school. When I started college, they required the use of PCs for many assignments. I found this transition difficult and painful. Yes, I was praying with Windows!

Finally, I got my fresh breath of air a few months ago when I got a black Macbook! Now I can play!

Hello, congratulations on the new website. I have been a Mac user since 1990 (Wanted one since 1986). I have a few machines. Powerbook G4 17 Inch model. G5 Dual 2.5 Tower, G4 Dual 1.42 mhz tower and a few other machines in storage.

I am also involved in a project in which we developed a new concept of navigating websites. This is called “signlinking” which is the same as “hyperlinking”. We have developed a program called Signlink Studio which is allows individuals to developed “signlink” webpages. We are currently moving the software to a Flash based protocol. You can down the first Signlink Studio from aslpah.ca and play with it. We have a Mac version and Windows Version of it.

Check it out!

Thanks,
Jim

I am a MacNewbie… thanks to Michael Clegg who convinced me to get iMac (intel based 20 inch one) and ….

I have one technical question – problem…

I taped “Through Deaf Eyes” with my DVR and I tried to play on my Mac – the captions is so screwy…

Any fix available? I am so upset. I am a LONG TIME PC user and I inserted the DVD in my PC laptop and captions showed up perfectly.

Why not Mac? Help Help help!

Does it comes with video software where I can create vlog?

Also, when will they host workshop in Dallas?

A true shock and awe kind of thing when you come in a website that is dedicated to two already closed-knit communities (Deaf and Macintosh). :) That EVEN brings us closer instantly.

Had been a Macintosh user for a long time (since Apple II era), although I did switch to PC for a short time (financial reasons), now working as a Network Administrator at Rochester School for the Deaf, I’d love to see any applications, tricks ‘n’ tips, secrets, and whatsoever, that are for the Networking world.

Groovy website, by the way. I do see a thing that needs some work and that is getting Jared Evans to switch to Macintosh. Right, everybody? :) That is going to be an easy work. :)

(Jared, to answer your question, you can but believe me, you’d rather use OS X over XPuke)

I look forward to this website from now, tomorrow and forever.

Again, congratulations!

Mac is way better than PC hands down.
What’s the difference? Umm, my suggestion for you, Jean B., is to go to any Apple store in your neighborhood and play with the computers. You’ll know the difference.

I’m a Mac addict since I got the little Mac Classic 512K back in 1986. I’m sure it means nothing to you Jean. Fret not, I wanted to let you know that I use PC at work for a long time. I know both computers through and through. PC gets too many damn viruses while Mac is immune to any virus (so far)

For me, Mac will always be the computer for me.

Hope that helps!
