Hey I just wanted to post this on deafmac.org. I called the head of Apple’s iPhone tech department and requested captioning for the music videos/movie on the iPhone and a relay service provided as well. He said he never thought about captioning until I called and requested it *Blank face* Haha suuure, and that he “surely will†bring it up with his higher ranked people in the Apple company. I think what we should do is tell every deaf/hoh and hearing person (involved in the deaf community) we know and tell them to:
1. Contact Apple themselves directly explaining who they are and their requests for relay service and captioning.
2. Spread the word to everyone else and tell them to contact Apple, too. Basically, pay it forward.

Jul 2, 2007There’s been discussions of TAP plans for the iphone for a while and we will have to wait a while till the hype dust is settled then they could come out with a TAP plan.

Jul 3, 2007Is there a web relay service that doesn’t require Java? If there’s an Ajax-based service, for example, that should already work with Safari on the iPhone. And making it fit on the iPhone screen wouldn’t be that hard, though you might want to add a Bluetooth keyboard for faster typing and to save screen real estate…
